  • I play soccer myself, and to Americans, football is more important (American football). Therefore, they are unwilling to change their name. This forced true football (Soccer) to be called soccer, in order to differentiate between the two. It's been a tradition and I doubt it will change anytime soon.

  • Football should be called football everywhere. Report Abuse

  • Because they are ignorants

  • I'm American and I don't understand why we call soccer here? But I do know that it will never change....NEVER. Simply due to the popularity of American Football.

  • I always asked myself that question.

It don't even make sense because their football is played with hands.

I don't really like the name tackle ball. Because they actually tackle the guy carrying the ball. It should be called hand ball.

  • soccer is an word from England, its was a way of dividing those who played football and rugby. Rugby is know as Rugger, whilst Football taking its nickname from Association, called it soccer. AsSOCiation.

  • They drive on the right side. I guess they just have to be different.

  • there is no reason it should be called football. lemme break it down, first you only hit the ball with the foot like 20% of the time, hence the "foot" in the name is appropriate and secondly, the ball is not even a ball, thus there shouldn't be a "ball" in its name either. it should be called tackle or something.

  • because they dont like soccer they should call it tackle ball bacause the ball doesnt even look like a foot

  • If anything it should be called "Touchdown" but its mostly due to the unpopularity of the sport and the fact that it has been around for too long and its too hard to change it now.
