  • In the colums in excel where the a / b/ c/ d/ etc is located in the grey part of the bar,, can that be substited with text so I can, say, type in NAME / ADDRESS etc in the grey part of the bar instead of the alphabet. Then the first person would be on line 1 and not line 2 .???

  • Not in the way you would like. About the only way you could have someone as row 1 and still have headings would be to put a text box up there and drag row one s height down to make it taller.

another possibility is to hide the row&column headers (tools>options>view tab and uncheck the row & column headers box), insert whatever names you want in row 1, drag the split box down past the first row and hit freeze panes on the window menu. you could also colour the cells of the row as grey (format menu>cells) to give it that authentic, boring microsoft corporate look.
