Random hdd spin up

  • I know the devs have no interest in fixing spindown issues, but my problem is slightly different.

    I can live with the hdd spinning up when I pause video, but my hdd is spinning up randomly every few minuets without me having touched anything.

    Any ideas why? And yes, my hdd is that loud that its actually driving me insane.

    Ive upgraded to the latest build and the problem seems worse. What could be running in the background? Has something gotten corrupted in my user data or something?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Thats worked! Thanks a lot, you've saved my sanity.

    About the hdd spin up on pause. Someone mentioned once that you could edit DialogSeekbar.xml to stop it coming up and so allowing pausing with out the hdd spinning back up. Ie pausing and now animation coming up on screen.

    Do you know if thats possible and what changes I would have to make to the xml?

    disable time server support


  • Thanks, but how do I do that? I cant find any setting for that in the system menu's.


  • Found it in the weather settings, testing to see if it stopped it.
