Priority Ratings

    I recently reported a bug to Microsoft on IE8 beta 2 and whilst doing so, I noticed that their bug report system is pretty simple but at the same time very effective.

    The main feature I really liked is the rating feature.

    Instead of only allowing the bug reporter to rate the bug, Microsoft allows anyone (with permissions - IE registered) to rate it from Lowest rating (very unimportant in MS's case) or the highest (very important).

    I really think if this feature was introduced to the project tools, it would take the priority feature to the next level and make it even more useful especially for sites where many bugs are reported.

  • I like the idea for the idea, but like any notion of trust it can be abused quite easily, giving moderators more work. At the very least it must be permission-based (as you also suggested) but also tracked so that a cleanup can be performed if ever needed.
