Import YaBB 2.1 without source access?

  • A client of mine has requested assistance, they have an old forum running on a box without any admin access to the box, now they need to upgrade their previous forum. I've told them this is not possible, but thought I'd post and check here too.

    Is it possible to import the posts (obviously the members cannot be done, but that have an export of that) from a working forum installation? The one they want to import is running YaBB 2.1.


  • If he still has FTP access to that old server, he can install phpMyAdmin which is a web script and download the database.


  • If they can get a database backup then they'll be able to import, otherwise not.
