Can I go pre-med at any college by just taking the required classes? I
would like to go to a specific college but they do not offer pre-med.
I was wondering if i could take there Medical Technologies degree
program and take the required year of this year of that on top?
At most schools that I know of, "pre-med" is not a major in and of
itself. It is a set of recommended courses. The purpose of pre-med is
to prepare you for success on the MCAT and as a student of medicine in
later years. It's quite possible to be admitted to medical school
without ever having been a pre-med student.
I had a friend who majored in advertising, but later decided to go to
med school. His high test scores got him into Johns Hopkins, and he
later became an anesthesiologist. I joke with him that he should go
back into advertising, since most ads tend to put people to sleep.
