Am I pregnant?? do you always bleed with miscarriage?

  • I went to the doctor at 4 weeks and 4 days ( 4 days passed missed period ). Had a blood test and they said my HCG level was 50. They didn't want to confirm anything at that time so they scheduled me back in two weeks ( which was today ) to have another blood test.

    If I had an early miscarriage or the egg never implanted itself, shouldn't I have gotten my period by now or at least spotted a little? I have some slight symptoms of pregnancy. slightly tender breasts, sensitivity to smells, heartburn, and slight cramping. As of now, I am two and a half weeks late and am confused. I haven't gotten the blood test results back yet to see my levels but my doctor has not given me any hope that I am pregnant.

    Any help?

    hcg works by 5 is not pregnant 9 is menopausal and in the uk anything over 25 is pregnant
    i had a hcg of 21 at 4 weeks pregnant im now 23 weeks pregnant


  • Anything over 25 for hcg is considered pregnant. It should double every 48 hours. If it doesn't or if it goes down, those are signs of trouble.

    I had 3 miscarriages and did bleed with all of them, however you don't always. Some women have what they call a missed miscarriage. The embryo stops developing but doesn't expel itself right away. In this case, many times, instead of just waiting for it to happen on it's own, choose to have a D&C.
